Polybutene – 1 (PB-1) resins are high molecular weight isotactic, semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyolefin’s produced through the polymerisation of Butene-1 and Ethylene, and/or Propylene co monomers.
PB-1 combines the typical characteristics of Polyolefin’s with a unique property mix of high flexibility and outstanding creep resistance over a wide temperature range. Due to a similar molecular structure, PB-1 is very compatible with PP and Propylene based thermoplastic elastomers. It is easily dispersible in PE notwithstanding its limited molecular compatibility. Secura PB-1 is extruded from grade 4267 PB-1 resin manufactured by Lyondell Basell.

Why use 12mm?

• An efficient and cost effective alternative to 15mm applications
• Greatest level of energy and water conservation than other diameters with the reduction of water draw off
• Greater flexibility, therefore, easier handling through framing, trusses and tight spaces.
• Less effort is required to crimp 12mm SecuraGold™ joints.
• A single 30mm hole in framing will replace 2 x 20mm holes
• Combined with SecuraGold™ manifolds in ‘point to point’ plumbing 12mm, SecuraGold™ speeds installation, as the system requires less joints.
• SecuraGold™ 12mm with its nominal 10mm internal bore enables plumbers to comply with the efficiency requirements of NZS 4305:1996
• SecuraGold™ 12mm complies with the current requirements of AS/NZS 3500 and the New Zealand Building Code.
